Gone again

Looks like I’m on my way to Fort Jackson, SC. That means pretty much everything I said 13-Jun applies again. I did drop my laptop off before I left last time but still haven’t heard back from Circuit City telling me that it was back in or whether they had found any problems. They’ll probably call me while I’m out of town these next few days.

I’m baaack

Annual Training is now over and I have returned to my home. For those who are curious, I qualified Expert on the M-16 (rifle) and Marksman on the M-9 (Pistol). I am really disappointed by my score w/the 9mm… so much so that I’m probably going to purchase one before next year so I can practice. We also performed some MOUT training. That was a lot of fun, even though I died before I even made it into the building when it was my platoon’s turn to assault.

I may be going away again tomorrow depending on if I can get the time off work or not. My friend’s sister is graduating basic training and I’ve been asked to go to Fort Jackson with them and attend the graduation. My biggest problem with that is money… I’m not exactly rich and I’ll have to pay for my own hotel room.

Speaking of money, I finally got my check from MCC to reimburse me for what the Government paid on my behalf for last semester’s tuition (yes, the semester that ended over a month ago). Other good news on that front is that I have a schedule ready to rock to that will allow me to get my associates degree at the end of this next semester… it only took me 6 1/2 years.

Gone for a week

My unit tells me it’s time for AT. This will actually be my first one as last summer I was just finishing up my Basic/AIT. If you’re reading this and wondering what the heck I’m talking about it might help if I told you that I’m in the Army Reserve. So I guess what I’m saying is that you might not want to look for any new entries any sooner than 22-Jun (not that I really think I have any regular readers, it’s just fun to say :).

Another hidden meaning (that’s no longer hidden) is that there really won’t be much happening regarding Bugzilla Documentation or any other Bugzilla work for the next week+. It may be worth noting that the IRC stats for #mozilla, #mozillazine, #calendar, and #mozwebtools (while on that topic, better [longer sampling time] stats for #mozwebtools are found at http://web.sigkill.com/mozwebtools/) will continue to be updated as long as nothing bad happens to my machine while I’m gone (like a power outage).

Michael Katzmann asked a questing in n.p.m.webtools yesterday about creating PDF’s out of the Bugzilla documentation. I had tried to do this before, but failed miserably. Many thanks to Don Fike who helped me unlock the mystery. For the curious, here’s a link to the thread using Google groups.

Goodness, as I look at this entry I see that it’s not only the longest one I’ve done to date, it’s also got the most links. Guess I just wanted to make sure I said everything I had to say before I left or something…

My laptop hates me

I’m convinced that my laptop thinks of me as the enemy. Almost since I bought it I’ve had a problem where every now and then it would say the registry (Windows XP, yuck) had to be restored from a backup. It was almost always successful. However, I think there were a couple instances where it apparently wasn’t as the nifty screen with all the usernames/pictures would never show up and I was forced to reformat it. It’s gotten even worse now, to the point where it just randomly locks up… even right after reformatting the drive. This really makes me think there’s a hardware problem of some sort. The worst part is, it’s less than 1 yr old.

Fortunately, when I bought it from Circuit City, I got the service contract with it. I guess it’s time to take it in to them and have them do something about it. Now is even the ideal time because I won’t be around next week to miss it.

Another useless blog

Well, I decided to do it… enter into the realm of useless blogs. Hopefully this will allow me to keep a record of things I do. In the end I think this will probably be of more intrest to me than anybody else, but I figured I might as well make it public :).
