New contacts
Yesterday I went and picked up some contacts. It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever worn them. It still seems strange intentionally putting something into my eye. I mean, I’ve spent my whole life to this point trying to keep things out of my eyes. For example, when I’m in the shower, I try to keep the shampoo from entering my eyes. Heck, I normally close my eyes when I go underwater just to try to keep the water and/or chlorine out of my eyes! Anyway, I seem to be getting a little better at putting them in. This morning it only took me 20 minutes (yesterday it took an hour). I’m still at the point that every time I see my glasses setting on the bookshelf I think I need to grab them. It only takes a second before my brain realizes that it saw my glasses, not just a semi-fuzzy shape resembling my glasses so I haven’t actually grabbed them and tried to put them on yet. I imagine this whole process gets easier the longer you do it. After all, if it took 20 minutes every morning just to get contacts in, I really don’t think many people would wear them.

I have had contacts for over 20 years.
I wear the hard gas permeable ones.
It took awhile to get used to them.
They are way better than glasses, by far.
Just stick with it, they get easier to use and wear everyday, you will not regret it.

That first comment worries me a little as I work in an air-conditioned office. On the upside there, I only work for 4 hours a day and I didn’t really notice a problem today (my first 4 hours there with them). I appreciate the words of encouragement Mark and tulio, I can’t wait until it becomes almost as quick as putting on glasses

Try walking in the rain, that was just the best feeling ever. No streamy glasses, and the feel of water on the face.

I took a shower with them on yesterday and it was different looking out the window and seeing everything clearly. It was also nice that when I stepped out of the shower there were no fog cover glasses to put on. These are only a trial pair, but I think I’m going to stick with them. It only took 5 minutes to put them in yesterday!

i just got my contacts yesterday and it is sooo hard to get them in. IT takes my half and hour! and even after i get them in my eyes are so red and puffy and it takes them another half an hour for the redness to go down! i really hope having contacts is worth all of this. i’ve never had glasses before and i really don’t want to get them

It’s a really weird feeling. Very liberating too.
Sadly I had to dump them because when you’re all day in AC they get dry pretty quickly and I had to be putting on eyedrops all the time. And even then I’d still have bloodshot eyes by the end of the day.
