Slowing down telemarking calls

30 June, 2003 (14:19) | Misc. | By: Jake

Saw a link on Mike Pinkerton’s blog about the National Do Not Call registry accepting registrations. For some reason they require a valid e-mail address, but if it will stop most telemarketing calls for 5 years I guess I can live with that.

You don’t have to give an email address if you register by phone. OTOH, email confirmation gives you a record you can easily store on your PC.

I even went so far as to print the confirmation page and put it in my filing cabinet…

That would be a novel concept, but it probably won’t happen anytime soon. You can still tell each caller to put you on their no-call list and that is legally binding, but this won’t stop non-profits from calling you or anybody that thinks they have a pre-existing buisiness relationship with you. It should, however, stop all those other cold-calls from happening.
